The Box is a serialized horror story delivered as an audio drama podcast. It is written and produced by Lauren Nelson, who also plays the role of Addison.
The show follows her misadventures after she discovers a box of strange journals in the bookstore where she works. Soon after, she begins to realize that the terrifying stories within them are not the fictional tales they appear to be, but based on actual events. The revelation that it’s all real thrusts Addison into a world of magic, the supernatural, and all manner of mysteries, putting her life, and maybe ours, at risk in the process.
Punctuating the fantastical elements of the story are pieces of life back in the real world, ranging from historical references to interviews with actual experts on the subject matter being discussed. The blending of reality with fiction voiced by talents across the globe and paired with social media accounts run in the voice of Addison, creates a unique listener experience.
